A new Koller

>> Sunday, June 24, 2012

Anna Beatrice Koller joined our family on June 22, 2012 at 2:00 am on the dot. She was 6 lbs, 15 oz; 19 3/4 inches. She was kind to her mommy in labor, is healthy and as you can see below is particularly adorable. We are home now and adjusting to being a family of four. Caroline is enamored with her (though I think a little disappointed by the amount of sleeping). Caroline calls her "my Anna." Precious.

Kites!

>> Sunday, June 3, 2012

One of Jack's good friends from college was in town with his family today. So we met up with them on the mall and had a picnic. Afterwards we went and got two kites up in the air. They did pretty well flying even though it wasn't a super windy day. The family is from Alaska so when it is windy it is generally too cold for kites. So they didn't think their girls had ever had the chance to fly kites. Our last attempt (with a very cheap kite) had not gone super well. So this was really Caroline's first real kite flying experience. Caroline is the pink dot at the bottom of the picture (she is looking up).

Fun morning

>> Friday, June 1, 2012

There was an incident this morning at our building so no one could get in for a bit while that got cleared up. So Caroline and I decided it was the perfect time to go play at the Jefferson memorial. We saw the water, talked to the ducks and I tried to explain that Thomas Jefferson wasn't actually a giant it was just a big statue of him. (That conversation was hilarious). Here are some pictures of our little adventure. After an hour it was back to school and work, but it was a fun diversion.

Seriously, could this kid get any cuter? I mean really she's adorable. (I recognize I am a little biased, but you have to give me that this is a cute picture).

Happy (early) Father's Day

>> Monday, May 21, 2012

Since Father's Day is three days before my due date, it seemed unfair to wait till then to celebrate Father's Day. Besides, it was a GORGEOUS day and the Nationals were playing yesterday. While we didn't really need an excuse to go to a game, it was a fun way to celebrate an early Father's Day. There were three home runs and the Nationals won. Hooray! Caroline's favorite part was the music and she had a great time dancing in front of ER chair and clapping at all appropriate times.

Fun friends

>> Thursday, May 17, 2012

We are so excite that our good friends are moving closer to us (from 15 minutes away to 3 minutes away). Yesterday their two kids came and played at our house while their mom did all of the things moms need to do between closing on an existing house and closing on the new one. They had a blast getting as dirty as possible in the sand at the playground, running around the house and putting baby dolls to bed. The funniest part was listening to them sing songs where each of them would get an occasional word wrong (hosanna in the skyest is Caroline's favorite) and then correct each other.

Grandma and Grandpa

>> Monday, May 7, 2012

We had a lovely weekend with Kerry and Barbara visiting us. Caroline was particularly pleased to have someone fun and new to talk to and show all of her treasures. She had books read to her and had a grand time playing with magnetic "paper" dolls. Of course, the highlight for her, however, was getting to go out and get ice cream on Thursday night. Kerry and Barbara took us to a local favorite--the Evening Star Cafe. That was fine with Caroline but the chocolate ice cream afterwards at the Dairy Godmother was WAY more exciting. Last night she reminded Grandpa how to play Candy Land as well. What fun!

Here are a few pictures.

Yummy

>> Thursday, May 3, 2012

Yesterday I had the day off, so Caroline and I made some cupcakes. I cleaned the kitchen earlier in the morning--I don't know what I was thinking. The kitchen was quite the disaster after our cooking fun, but hey the cupcakes taste good and we had fun. Caroline was particularly excited about being allowed to lick some of the beater for the icing. (I was smart enough to do this at 10:30 so the sugar wore off by nap time).
